Erasmus+ Conference Simulation

One of our greatest initiatives here at Med High are our cross curricular projects. As leaders in cross curricular learning, we devote ample time in developing crucial 21st century skills via inter departmental collaborations.
 
Our Erasmus+ visitors were able to observe a cross curricular conference simulation organized by the Humanities, Science and Languages Departments. The theme of our conference was ‘Climate Change and Food Security’.
 
Congratulations to our Year 3 students for preparing so meticulously over the past few weeks and a big thank you to Mrs. Effie Georgiou, Mrs. Koulla Andronicou, Mr. Moysis Pitsillos and Mrs. Angela Ioannou for guiding them.

Erasmus+ Week!

This week we have the pleasure of hosting 15 teachers from our partner schools in Portugal, Poland, Austria, Germany and Latvia as part of the Erasmus+ program.
 
Our European colleagues are here to observe various lessons, jobshadow us, take part in a cross curricular conference simulation and of course explore our beautiful island, starting with a lovely tour of Larnaca which has been organized with care by Mr. Avgerinos Santamas, Mr. Efthymios Kakouris and Mrs. Georgina Lysandrou.
 
We are all excited to welcome them, exchange best practices and embark on exciting projects together in the future!

Pre-School Cultural Evening

We are immensely grateful for the spectacular Cultural Evening hosted by our Pre-School, where young talents took center stage to showcase their knowledge and creativity. The evening was a delightful celebration of diverse cultures and traditions.

Nursery class embarked on a fascinating journey to China, discovering its astonishing traditions and cultural heritage. Nursery Plus explored the vibrant continent of Africa, immersing themselves in the exciting world of wild animals.

Pre-Kindergarten whisked us away to Italy, captivating us with their exploration of Italian food, architecture, and even the language. Kindergarten took us on an adventurous trip through American history, with Captain America as our guide, uncovering the lives of Native Americans and cowboys.

Pre-Primary A wowed the audience with their vibrant performance of traditional Mexican dances, donning colourful costumes and dancing to lively music while Pre-Primary B transported us to the energetic world of Brazil. There, they celebrated its rich traditions, football, carnival, and the captivating wildlife of the rainforest.

We applaud the efforts of our young performers, their dedicated teachers, and the support of their families. This Cultural Evening provided a valuable platform for our Pre-School students to explore and embrace different cultures, fostering a sense of curiosity, appreciation, and respect.

We express our sincere gratitude to everyone involved in making this Cultural Evening a resounding success. Your commitment and enthusiasm have created lasting memories for our young learners.

Spain Presentation by Parents

This May, the Spanish parents of Grade 2 pupils made a special visit to represent their vibrant culture, culminating the students’ year-long exploration of Spain.

With enthusiasm and pride, the parents shared captivating photos and videos from their respective regions, granting the young learners a window into the diverse tapestry of Spanish culture. The students’ genuine curiosity shone through their insightful questions, showcasing their eagerness to broaden their knowledge and understanding.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Spanish parents for their invaluable contribution, which has fostered a profound appreciation and comprehension of Spain’s rich heritage among our students. Wellness Presentations for Junior School

Ms. Theodora, our school psychologist, has been actively engaging with our Junior School pupils through a series of insightful presentations. In these sessions, she has addressed important topics that promote personal growth and well-being among our young learners.

For Grade 1, Ms. Theodora focused on self-respect and self-esteem. Through interactive activities and the power of music and creativity, she helped the children identify their unique strengths and character traits, fostering a sense of individuality and confidence.

In Grade 2, the emphasis was on encouraging screen-free activities. Ms. Theodora guided the students in exploring their identities beyond electronic games, encouraging them to engage in alternative activities that stimulate creativity, physical exercise, and social interactions.

Grade 3 students were inspired by Ms. Theodora’s presentation on the theme of “Kind is cool.” She encouraged them to embrace kindness and empathy, emphasizing the importance of spreading goodwill among their peers. Through discussions on their core values and reflections on what “cool” truly means, the students gained a deeper understanding of the positive impact they can have on others.

Additionally, Grade 4 students also had the opportunity to delve into the significance of engaging in screen-free activities. Ms. Theodora helped them recognize the value of exploring their identities beyond electronic games, highlighting alternative pursuits that contribute to their personal growth and development.

We are grateful for Ms. Theodora’s commitment to nurturing our students’ well-being and personal growth. Cultural Evening for Grades 4-6

We extend our sincerest appreciation for the unforgettable Cultural Evening where Grades 4, 5, and 6 captivated the audience with their knowledge and creativity, showcasing the countries they studied. This enchanting event transported us to different corners of the world, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of each nation.

Grade 4 mesmerized us with their fascinating play on Italy, delving into its gastronomy, heritage, geography, and history. Through a delightful fantasy tale, historians and researchers embarked on a thrilling time-travel adventure, meeting fascinating figures from the past.

 

Grade 5 then introduced us to the wonders of Sweden, celebrating iconic contributions like ABBA and IKEA. They showcased the country’s breathtaking landscapes, from abundant forests to the awe-inspiring Northern Lights. Their presentation encompassed the vibrant culture of the Vikings, providing a captivating glimpse into Sweden’s history and traditions.

 

Lastly, Grade 6 shone a spotlight on Argentina, highlighting remarkable individuals born in this vibrant country. Through informative presentations, famous songs, and a captivating traditional dance, they captured the essence of Argentina’s rich heritage and celebrated its cultural contributions.

 

We applaud the hard work and dedication of our talented students, as well as the guidance and support of their teachers, who nurtured their exploration and creativity. This Cultural Evening was a testament to the power of education and the importance of embracing diverse cultures. It was a truly remarkable experience that left everyone inspired and enlightened.
