Cyanotype – The Art of Printing with the Sun

Thank you to Michele Corradini, from NABA Art and Design School in italy, who visited our school and organised an academic presentation and workshop for the Year 6 Art, Photography and D&T students.
The title of the workshop was: Cyanotype – The Art of Printing with the Sun.

Cyanotype is a photographic technique that allows the silhouettes of any object to be imprinted in negative form on a fragment of paper, sensitised through a Chemical emulsion by exposure to sunlight. Slower than photography, using just shades of blue, it allows to play with subject, movement and shadows.

The aim of the workshop was to experiment with the technique, to understand its mechanisms and communicative power. An intuitive process that allows to create small portraits of simple elements that take on aesthetic value.
