Easter Egg Hunt: Grade 6 Hosts a Sweet Adventure

On the last day of school before our Easter break, Med High Grade 6 students organized a delightful Easter Egg Hunt for all the junior school classes. The event, filled with excitement and joy, marked a fun and festive end to the term.

The Grade 6 students took turns hiding chocolate eggs and watched as their younger peers eagerly scoured their classrooms searching for the hidden treasures. Each time a student found a chocolate egg they exchanged it with Grade 6 teacher, Mrs. Maria, for even more chocolate, adding to the thrill and excitement of the hunt.

The Easter Egg Hunt was a huge success, with smiles and laughter echoing throughout the school, and we thank the Grade 6 students and Mrs. Maria for organizing such a memorable event!

Regional and Pancyprian Mathematics Competition Results

Our students were honored with awards at this year’s Regional and Pancyprian Mathematics competition during a ceremony held at Ayiou Georgiou Leceym, hosted by the Cyprus Mathematical Society.

Wang Mia Waner, Grade 5, achieved 3rd Place.

Pre-School Cultural Evening Extravaganza: A World of Wonder

Med High Pre-School hosted a vibrant and enlightening Cultural Evening in the main campus yard. Each class presented a unique country, showcasing their year-long studies through captivating performances and displays. Parents and spectators were treated to an evening of diverse cultures, as the young students transported everyone around the world with their engaging presentations.

 

Nursery Class: Hawaii

The Nursery Class took us to the stunning tropical paradise of Hawaii, also known as the “Big Island.” Their presentation was a delightful exploration of hula dancing, surfing, and coconut trees, capturing the enchanting charm of this beautiful island. The children’s enthusiasm and colorful costumes brought the spirit of Hawaii to life, leaving the audience mesmerized.

 

Nursery Plus: England

Nursery Plus ventured to England, where they showcased iconic landmarks and the rich cultural heritage of the country. The children embarked on a journey aboard the famous big red bus, visiting the Lionesses and even having a royal encounter with the King. Their performance was a delightful homage to England, filled with charm and excitement.

 

Pre-Kindergarten: Spain

The Pre-Kindergarten class took spectators on an adventurous trip around Spain. Throughout the year, the students studied Spain’s rich culture and history. Their presentation included a tour bus adventure, stopping at various landmarks and learning about Spain’s famous traditions along the way. The vibrant costumes and enthusiastic performances made for an unforgettable journey.

 

Kindergarten: Ancient Egypt

Kindergarten students navigated the banks of the Nile River, unveiling the marvels of Ancient Egypt. Their presentation delved into the wonders of this historic civilization, showcasing pyramids, pharaohs, and ancient Egyptian traditions. The children’s fascination with the topic was evident, making their performance both educational and engaging.

 

Pre-Primary A: China

Pre-Primary A transported everyone to China, showcasing traditional dancing, historical martial arts, and rich cultural traditions. The students demonstrated their knowledge of China’s history and culture with grace and enthusiasm. The vibrant costumes and dynamic performances highlighted the depth of their studies and their appreciation for Chinese heritage.

 

Pre-Primary B: Scotland

Pre-Primary B explored the enchanting land of Scotland. From the majestic Edinburgh Castle to the mystical beauty of the Loch Ness Monster, the children took the audience on a journey through Scotland’s major sites. They traversed the highlands, adorned the wildlife, and ventured to the islands to visit fairies. Their presentation was a wonderful blend of rugged landscapes and rich history, capturing the essence of Scotland.

 

The Cultural Evening was a resounding success, showcasing the hard work and creativity of both the students and their teachers. Each class brought their chosen country to life, providing a memorable and educational experience for all who attended.

A Night in Japan and South Africa: Grade 5 and 6 Cultural Evening

Med High Grade 5 and 6 students captivated the audience with their cultural presentations, offering a journey through Japan and South Africa. The performances were both educational and entertaining, showcasing the students’ dedication and creativity!

 

 

Grade 5: Japan

Grade 5 students explored the captivating beauty and cultural heritage of Japan. They took the audience on an enchanting expedition through Japan’s rich tapestry, from its ancient customs to its cutting-edge technology. Our exploring backpackers, journalists, and actors travelled far and wide, showcasing the beauty, diversity, and allure of this enchanting land. The show consisted of two parts: a nonfiction presentation that provided insightful information about Japan’s history and culture, and a traditional Japanese tale that brought the country’s folklore to life.

 

 

Grade 6: South Africa

Grade 6 students presented South Africa, the southernmost country in Africa, with a coastline that stretches along the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans. They shared fascinating facts about South Africa, focusing particularly on paying tribute to Nelson Mandela, the country’s first black president and a key figure in the fight against apartheid. The performance included an acappella rendition of a famous South African song, a rhythmic gumboot dance, and culminated in a flash mob dance where the entire audience was invited to join in celebrating the same hit song.

 

 

The cultural show was a resounding success, with Grade 5 and 6 students demonstrating their hard work and passion for learning. Their vibrant performances and insightful presentations made for an unforgettable evening, celebrating the diversity and richness of our world.

Grade 3 students recently captivated the audience with a stunning performance that transported everyone on a fascinating journey through the heart of China’s diverse heritage. The show was a kaleidoscope of colors, traditional performances, and immersive experiences, celebrating the beauty and vibrancy of the Middle Kingdom.

 

 

China, with a history spanning thousands of years, has made iconic contributions to the world, such as the Great Wall, Confucian philosophy, and traditional Chinese calligraphy. As the world’s second-largest economy, China plays a pivotal role in the global economic landscape. Its rapid industrialization, technological advancements, and international trade have positioned it as a major player in shaping the 21st-century global economy.

From the majestic peaks of the Himalayas to the serene beauty of the Li River, China’s diverse landscapes captivate with their natural beauty. The Grade 3 students took the audience on an educational and entertaining journey, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the wonders of China. Mexico’s globally renowned cuisine, featuring spicy flavors and iconic dishes like tacos and guacamole, took center stage. The students also celebrated festivals like ‘Dia de los Muertos,’ showcasing a blend of indigenous and Catholic influences that honor life and ancestors. The rhythmic beats of Mariachi music and traditional dances added a lively touch to the presentation.

Med High Grade 1 and 2 students dazzled audiences with their captivating cultural presentations. Each grade took the spectators on an educational and entertaining journey to different parts of the world, showcasing their knowledge and creativity through engaging performances.

 

 

Grade 1: Madagascar

Grade 1 students transported us to Madagascar, an island situated on the south-eastern edge of the African continent, known for its photogenic wonders. The children provided a panoramic view of Madagascar’s diverse landscapes, from the forested mountains of the north to the tropical rainforests of the east coast, and the dry deserts of the south with iconic baobab trees. They also highlighted the coral reefs and mangrove swamps stretching along its coastlines. Their presentation included a journey through the heart of Madagascar, where they shared fascinating facts about the country, ventured through the rainforest in search of lemurs, and delighted everyone with contemporary dance performances.

 

 

Grade 2: Isle of Man

Grade 2 took us on an adventure to the Isle of Man, a jewel in the Irish Sea celebrated for its rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning scenery. The young adventurers guided us from the enchanting Fairy Bridges to the historic town of Ramsey, shared haunting tales of Peel Castle’s Moodey Dhoo, and showcased graceful Manx dancing. They marvelled at the Laxey Wheel, a testament to industrial prowess, and captured the excitement of the world-renowned TT road race. Through their presentation, the students explored the magic, history, and beauty of the Isle of Man, leaving the audience both informed and entertained.
