Out at sea ⛵

Thank you to Nautical Club of Larnaca – Ναυτικός Όμιλος Λάρνακας for offering an unforgettable sailing experience to our Grade 6 students, as part of their prize for winning the competition “Naming a local reef”.

The children were introduced to the sailing and kayaking equipment and were instructed how to sail. With the help of professional instructors they happily ventured into the open sea on kayaks and sailing boats.

What a great way to spend Sunday morning!

1st prize for Iris!

1st prize for Iris!

The students of the Grade 6 Greek advanced class won the 1st prize in the competition “Name a local reef”.

The competition was organised by CMMI (Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute) and the Ministry of Education. It was addressed to all Primary Schools in the Larnaca and Famagusta area.

The students chose the name Iris, a sea deity associated with the colours of the rainbow. The vibrant colours of the rainbow are abundant on the habitat’s colourful sea sponges. Also, iris is the scientific name for the coloured part of the eye. The shape of the iris resembles the shape of the reef’s naturally formed arches.

The children worked under the guidance of their Greek teacher, Mrs Eri Nomikou.

We are very proud of our Gr. 6 students’ accomplishment! Congratulations!

One of our greatest initiatives here at Med High are our cross curricular projects. As leaders in cross curricular learning, we devote ample time in developing crucial 21st century skills via inter departmental collaborations.

Our Erasmus+ visitors were able to observe a cross curricular conference simulation organized by the Humanities, Science and Languages Departments. The theme of our conference was ‘Climate Change and Food Security’.

Congratulations to our Year 3 students for preparing so meticulously over the past few weeks and a big thank you to Mrs. Effie Georgiou, Mrs. Koulla Andronicou, Mr. Moysis Pitsillos and Mrs. Angela Ioannou for guiding them.

We are all excited to welcome them, exchange best practices and embark on exciting projects together in the future!
